Dear NaturalNews readers,

In what can only be called truly incredible breaking news, President Obama yesterday announced that Americans should NOT prepare for the possibility of radioactive fallout. They should only watch the news and listen to official information, but don’t get prepared.

It’s truly one of the most cowardly examples of non-leadership I’ve ever seen in the White House, and that includes President Bush reading books to kindergarteners during the 9/11 attacks. With this announcement, Obama has set in motion a non-preparedness attitude in America that will get people killed if a radioactive plume really does rain down upon California and the West Coast.

His actions today were inexcusable and highly irresponsible. What kind of President tells Americans to NOT prepare for a pending possible disaster? Even the U.S. government’s own preparedness website www.Ready.Gov urges people to follow these three steps: 1) Have a (preparedness) kit, 2) Make a plan, and 3) Stay informed.

Obama says that’s just too much. Who needs a kit? Who needs a plan? Just watch TV! It is the most dangerous and mindless advice I have yet heard on this whole nuclear catastrophe situation.

Read my full story on Obama’s completely asinine announcement that Americans should NOT prepare for what might be coming their way real soon:

Today NaturalNews also covered the story of how the MOX fuel in Fukushima reactor #3 is a combination of plutonium and enriched uranium. This is what terrorists use to make dirty bombs, folks. It’s nasty stuff.

This MOX fuel is 2,000,000 times more toxic than enriched uranium alone. And it has a half-life of 24,000 years. And it could be released into the atmosphere if they don’t get this situation under control:
http://www.naturalnews.com/031736_plutonium_enriched_uranium.html

The NRC, meanwhile, says the fuel rod cooling pools have run dry. Every nuclear engineer in the world knows this is a red alert event when your cooling pools run dry:

A couple of important notes: Potassium iodide is emergency medicine, not a nutritional supplement! I would personally NEVER take this stuff unless I was about to be hit with radiation. Do not acquire these pills and start popping them like candy. That’s insane. These are for emergency use ONLY. Read more in my article above…

Of course, if you believe Obama, there’s no need to prepare anyway. Just watch the basketball games, tune in to CNN and don’t worry about any of those pesky little nuclear meltdown problems. Sticking our collective heads in the sand has never seemed so patriotic!

It is too early to call everyone in North America to prepare for a radiation cloud streaming down radioactive particles from the accident in Japan. According to the media and government, America is not at risk due to radioactive fallout from the recent Japanese nuclear accidents in several reactors but that could change in a heartbeat as authorities race to combat the threat of multiple nuclear reactor meltdowns. Nuclear plant operators are working frantically to try to keep temperatures down in several reactors crippled by the earthquake and tsunami, wrecking at least two by dumping sea water into them in last-ditch efforts to avoid meltdowns.

Now, just hours after writing this above paragraph we get a report in the New York Times indicating that even best case scenarios include radioactive releases of steam from the crippled plants could go on for weeks, months or even years. So prepare we must. “Pentagon officials reported Sunday that helicopters flying 60 miles from the plant picked up small amounts of radioactive particulates — still being analyzed, but presumed to include Cesium-137 and Iodine-121 — suggesting widening environmental contamination. More steam releases also mean that the plume headed across the Pacific could continue to grow,” printed the Times.

The incident is a reminder that preparedness should include being prepared for nuclear events with foods and medicinals in our medical cabinets that will protect us and our families as much as humanly and medically possible. Many people in Japan and elsewhere around the world that live and work close to nuclear plants will be seriously affected by nuclear accidents. When a meltdown happens the effects can be carried thousands of miles by the prevailing winds.

It is unclear how far the impact of a meltdown might reach. In the United States, local communities plan for evacuation typically within 10 miles of a nuclear plant. However, states must be ready to cope with contamination of food and water as far as 50 miles away. When it comes to risks and toxic exposure levels we can count on the government and medical officials to understate the threat. This is something consistent in their approach to all types of toxic exposures.

DMSO: The Antidote for Radiation Poisoning

Comment: Due to the nuclear alert in Japan and its likelihood to affect the United States and other parts of the world, we decided to carry this article published in The Dot Connector Magazine issue #12

First, a little bit of background.

Radiation produces free-radicals (“inflammatory molecules”) that damage cells that make up tissues such as organs, glands, muscles, and bones. Besides causing the cells to age more quickly they also become distorted, or mutated, creating cancers such as leukemia, anemia, birth defects, and other diseases.

Sulfur has a long history of use as an antidote for acute exposure to radioactive material. DMSO is the classical sulfur compound. A Japanese study showed that even low concentrations of DMSO had radio-protective effects through the facilitation of DNA double-strand break repair, providing protection against radiation damage at all cellular levels in the whole body.

Remember that boosting your body’s detox capabilities and overall anti-oxidants levels is a key to survive in these stressful times. Being on a detox diet is crucial to regain health in a toxic environment. Our extensive experience and research shows that those on a no grain/low carb (no gluten) and non dairy diet fare MUCH better.

We’ll be publishing more material on detoxification, so stay tuned. For more information on how to protect yourself from nuclear radiation, see:

DMSO is an effective pain killer, blocking nerve conduction fibers that produce pain.

It reduces inflammation and swelling by reducing inflammatory chemicals. It improves blood supply to an area of injury by dilating blood vessels and increasing delivery of oxygen and by reducing blood platelet stickiness. It stimulates healing, which is a key to its usefulness in any condition.

It is among the most potent free radical scavengers known to man, if not the most potent one.

In 1866, Russian scientist Alexander Saytzeff isolated a most curious and peculiar chemical compound. It was crystalline, odor-less, non-toxic and had a garlic-like taste when consumed. At the time, Saytzeff had no way to predict that his discovery was going to prove highly controversial throughout its entire medical history, that it was going to be tested in thousands of studies, providing miraculous relief in numerous patients.

I’m talking here about dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), an organic sulfur compound which was used only as an industrial solvent, that is, until its medical properties were discovered in 1963 by a research team headed by Stanley W. Jacob, MD. DMSO is a by-product of kraft pulping (the “sulfate process”) which converts wood into wood pulp consisting of almost pure cellulose fibers. As industrial as it may sound, the process simply entails a treatment of wood chips with a mixture of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide, known as white liquor, breaking the bonds which link lignin (from the Latin word lignum, meaning wood) to the cellulose.  Continue reading

It’s feared nuclear fuel rods may have partially melted at the 2nd reactor of the stricken Fukushima power plant. This comes after reports they were fully exposed for a short period of time. Shaun Burnie, an independent atomic energy consultant from Scotland says Japan’s nuclear crisis is much worse than it seems.

‘Maximum’ effort at Japan’s stricken plant

UN nuclear chief denies situation at earthquake-damaged nuclear plant is out of control as emergency efforts continue.

Last Modified: 16 Mar 2011

The Japanese head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, has denied that the situation at an earthquake-damaged nuclear plant is out of control.

“It is not the time to say things are out of control,” Yukiya Amano told a news conference. “The operators are doing the maximum to restore the safety of the reactor.

Yukiya Amano was responding to comments by Guenther Oettinger, the EU energy chief, suggesting that efforts to contain the crisis at the Fukushima plant had failed after efforts to cool a reactor by dumping water on it from a helicopter were abandoned.

The plant has been hit by a series of explosions since Friday’s quake knocked out reactor cooling systems.

“In the coming hours there could be further catastrophic events which could pose a threat to the lives of people on the island,” Oettinger told a European Parliament committee.

There was hope early on Thursday that a newly built power line that could restore electricity at the plant would soon be ready. If the plant’s electricity-powered pumps can be restarted, water could be pumped to the damaged reactors to cool them.

Naoki Tsunoda, a spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power Company, said officials planned to try the line as soon as possible, but could not say when, the AP news agency reported.

LETTER FROM SENDAI

Hello My Lovely Friends,

First I want to thank you so very much for your concern for me. I am very touched. I also wish to apologize for a generic message to you all. But it seems the best way at the moment to get my message to you.

Things here in Sendai have been rather surreal. But I am very blessed to have wonderful friends who are helping me a lot. Since my shack is even more worthy of that name, I am now staying at a friend’s home. We share supplies like water, food and a kerosene heater. We sleep lined up in one room, eat by candlelight, share stories. It is warm, friendly, and beautiful.

During the day we help each other clean up the mess in our homes. People sit in their cars, looking at news on their navigation screens, or line up to get drinking water when a source is open. If someone has water running in their home, they put out sign so people can come to fill up their jugs and buckets.

Utterly amazingly where I am there has been no looting, no pushing in lines. People leave their front door open, as it is safer when an earthquake strikes. People keep saying, “Oh, this is how it used to be in the old days when everyone helped one another.”

Quakes keep coming. Last night they struck about every 15 minutes. Sirens are constant and helicopters pass overhead often.

We got water for a few hours in our homes last night, and now it is for half a day. Electricity came on this afternoon. Gas has not yet come on. But all of this is by area. Some people have these things, others do not. No one has washed for several days. We feel grubby, but there are so much more important concerns than that for us now. I love this peeling away of non-essentials. Living fully on the level of instinct, of intuition, of caring, of what is needed for survival, not just of me, but of the entire group.

There are strange parallel universes happening. Houses a mess in some places, yet then a house with futons or laundry out drying in the sun. People lining up for water and food, and yet a few people out walking their dogs. All happening at the same time.

Other unexpected touches of beauty are first, the silence at night. No cars. No one out on the streets. And the heavens at night are scattered with stars. I usually can see about two, but now the whole sky is filled. The mountains are Sendai are solid and with the crisp air we can see them silhouetted against the sky magnificently.

And the Japanese themselves are so wonderful. I come back to my shack to check on it each day, now to send this e-mail since the electricity is on, and I find food and water left in my entranceway. I have no idea from whom, but it is there. Old men in green hats go from door to door checking to see if everyone is OK. People talk to complete strangers asking if they need help. I see no signs of fear. Resignation, yes, but fear or panic, no.

They tell us we can expect aftershocks, and even other major quakes, for another month or more. And we are getting constant tremors, rolls, shaking, rumbling. I am blessed in that I live in a part of Sendai that is a bit elevated, a bit more solid than other parts. So, so far this area is better off than others.  Last night my friend’s husband came in from the country, bringing food and water. Blessed again.

Somehow at this time I realize from direct experience that there is indeed an enormous Cosmic evolutionary step that is occurring all over the world right at this moment. And somehow as I experience the events happening now in Japan, I can feel my heart opening very wide. My brother asked me if I felt so small because of all that is happening. I don’t. Rather, I feel as part of something happening that much larger than myself. This wave of birthing (worldwide) is hard, and yet magnificent.

Thank you again for your care and Love of me,

With Love in return, to you all,

Anne Thomas of Ode Magazine
